I think the coolest thing was the F-22 demo, it was unreal!! The Tail slide was way cool--I didn't think jets were supposed to go backwards and keep lit!

Lots of cool rv's, and lots of warbirds. Sean D Tucker was cool, 13 minutes of acro is insane.

My least favorite part was the 40 minute taxi to Vintage Aircraft Camping at 1pm, watching the oil temp creep up to 230 on the C-180.

Did anyone happen to take a look at the new AV8OR GPS?

https://www.bendixking.com/AV8OR/default.html

Looks pretty cool from their online advert. At the very least it might force Garmin to adjust it's pricing a little.

This is one of the things I regret not spending more time looking at. At $750 it would make a great back-up GPS (or primary).

I don't want to speak for him but it was the one thing that Captain John seemed pretty impressed with. Sounds like a great deal. I might have to get one to play with for that kind of money. I guess I'm getting warped, just about anything under a $1,000 in aviation sounds cheap. Rolling Eyes

$1000 = 1 Aviation Unit (AU)

In this business, anything less than 1 AU is a steal! Mr. Green

Wow, kind of pathetic isn't it? But true.

I just glanced it over, the BK booth that I looked at it at didn't have the price easily seen. I didn't feel like asking BK how much it was, then sheepishly walking away. I thought it would have been more money.

How does it compare to the anywhere map? They both seem good, and if the road stuff works at all, it will be better than my 496.

I will have to keep the AV8OR in mind come panel time. I seen it at OSH but associated Bendix with high prices so I didn't bother to do anything other than glance as walking by. $750 is a decent deal though.

Sporty's has it for $650, and they aren't really known for having the best price. Hmmmm.

I see the AV8OR line has acquired VistaNav. Bendix/King seems to be making a push into the handheld market.

See? http://tinyurl.com/4ygo4k

Wow, that is interesting. They seem so far behind in the avionics game I wonder how well this is going to work out for them. I wouldn't say that their new products are really new concepts, etc. Just their version of things that Garmin etc have been working on for a long time.

They are probably smart in that they are buying good things that other people make. Like Rob Hickman's EFIS, Vista's moving map, etc.
