Simple RV8, used O360, fixed prop, basic day VFR, no lighting, simple foam seats, no paint, maybe $40k. Will go like heck, be light and agile. The way Van likes 'em!

It's been done, and it's a bad move. Throws wt/bal all to hell, wastes too much useful load, burns too much fuel, and can tweak the gear legs if not beefed or replaced with stronger gear. The F1 Rocket is the way to go if you want to go with a six banger on an RV type two seater. The airplane is sup...

Total agreement with Golf Delta. My RV8 continues to amaze me after five years and 365 hours of operation. Mine has a fixed metal prop on a 180hp O-360, pitched mostly for climb. I'm based in Albuquerque, with summertime DA's commonly in the 8,000's. It still gets airborne and climbs out smartly eit...

Recommendations I received when working on the paint scheme for my -8 was to keep the trim lines long and flowing. No vertical lines on the fuse or vertical tail for sure. For wings, keep them going spanwise mostly. Worked for me. There are plenty of -8's out there in a solid base color with limited...

First RV10 builder here?
They say we all are treated to 15 minutes of fame. Posting the first RV10 message here won't make me famous, but it's cool anyway. I'm finishing up the empennage/tailcone kit and trying to scrounge up the dinero for the wings. Reminds me of a great reply to the age old question: "how much did it cos...

For inside the airplane, shoot it with some primer. The scratches on the bottom of the stiffeners are going to be mated to the skins. It's generally considered good practice to prime mating surfaces to reduce the chance for galvanic reaction to electrolyte (water). For outside, don't sweat it if you...

I'm not Grant, but I play him on TV. *rimshot* I'm making the transition from manly man taildragger pilot to Nancy boy trike driver. Reason? No choice! RV10 is a nosewheel airplane. I love taildraggers. I do not fear any landing any more than I would with the training wheel up front. Both airp...

Use whatever means you find easy to use to break the edges. If you can run a finger along the edge without cutting yourself, it's good to go. That's my test....no blood=airworthy! Worked on my RV8, which now has 5 years of flying behind it and not a single crack anywhere on the airframe. Basically, ...

Good job! Backriveting is awesome. I backriveted about 75% of the entire tailcone on the RV10. Really goes quickly. Just watch your set alignment...check reflection of the set in the shiny aluminum to see that it's perpendicular to the surface. Granted, it's not all that important in the strength of...

My website might offer some insight into the whys/hows of RV building. It's not for everyone, but it has GOT to be one of the finest endeavors on planet Earth. Get a ride in an RV, or two, or more, both tandem and sidebyside. My wife actually prefers tandem. She gets the same excellent view to both ...

RV8 driver from Albuquerque onboard.
Howdy folks. Brian Denk here from sunny New Mexico. This seems like a nice diversion from the Matronics RV-list....although it's still the grandaddy of all things RV on the web. Hope to share what I know, what I've learned, and how NOT to do things when building/flying RV's!
Peace,
Brian
