OK. I will admit it. I still like Flying magazine. I still like reading about stuff that I can't afford. Some of the best articles written have been in "I learned about flying from that." And Dick Collins is controversial. This can be good because it gets people talking about things. And if you are ...

My cousin damn near got killed when a forklift rolled and landed on him. That was a complete life changing experience for the whole family. Watch out for those things.

Murrish, that was hysterically funny. Cyphergirl makes a good point too. I did a runup one time facing downwind in a Cessna 152 on a very windy day during my student cross country days. The way the damn thing shook at high power scared the crap out of me. (That's why I am 2 inches tall now. :) ) Eve...

No really. Nice photos. The plenum is neat. I am not sure I would name my plane after a trashcan though.

Grant wasn't initially talking about the stiffeners, but yes, a circular saw (even the little ones) near any empennage size parts seems like overkill and could get very hairy indeed.

There are two styles to the pre-made elevator counterweights. The old style (RV-6, older 7, 8 and the 9) and the new ones. The one pictured above is the new style. When asking how another person did it make sure they know which style you have.

Now that is a great idea that I had not even thought of. Having the prop shop build up a non-certified version. So simple of an idea that it eluded me. Duh, Mikey!

Build order in general

Mustang is right. Build the VS first since it is half the parts count and half the cost to replace. My friend building an RV-3 and I both decided to do it this way. We also matched the rudder spars to the VS spar at the same time. Why Van had people build the biggest and most expensive part of the t...

He probably got that CS prop years ago. When I first got my RV-4 plans the kit was 8000 dollars and now it's 13,700. Talk about kicking myself in the butt sometimes.
