Glad he's OK. Sorry about the plane.

I looked at most all popular homebuilts, and I chose the best, not just for me but for the mission. Low cost, easy build, safe flying. If you are building an airplane you don't consider to be the best for your mission, I've got to ask why? Anfibs are a different mission. Pressurized turbines are a d...

I agree, my airplane will be no short field performer. I recognize that as a limitation, and will choose my strips accordingly. Where do you get these numbers though? I thought that field was near sea level and 3500 feet long. I know he didn't use it all due to Milt's plane being on the side, but lo...

Senator Jensen, The Lycoming RV-7 is well known for becoming airborne in 300-400 feet. Your video shows that airplane isn't even close to having it's tail up at the 400 foot point. I don't need to be in that plane to see it's poor performance. By the way, I suspect my airplane will look just about l...

Ross, I am installing the 0-235 for fuel economy and range. I will be very cautious on short strips with obstacles, but knowing I have a 118 hp engine, I will be expecting a challenge. It's when you are sold a 200 hp engine and it performs like 125 hp is where the problem is. No Ross, I haven't flow...

No Sir! I want you to have the airplane YOU want! All I ask is you remember what you THOUGHT last week, because there are those of us who are listening to what you say! If the Egg is a good engine, it will be good two weeks in a row. If you are just trying to preserve your place on the "production l...

See my previous post for my guess on length used...I love how everyone breaks down internet videos and forms fact. Imagine if he flipped it over! You are one of the best judges I know on the forums...you know it didn't perform, judging by the video, you know he loves it because of the money he has ...

Hit the Dirt!
If not a 1000', what is your best guess of length used? See how it hesitates in ground effect with the tail up? See how he turns to negotiate the low spot in the trees? Scary! Of course he loves it......what choice does he have???? You'll love yours too if you tie up your last dollar in one! John RV...

John, 1000'!? You must think that strip is 3500 feet long...that strip is only about 2300' total. He did not start from the end, due to the accident that had just occured, blocking a couple hundred feet of usable runway due to debris. He did not roll all the way to the end, so I would say it was pr...

Typical response, and expected from you buddy! (Yukon) I can't speak for Benny on that departure. The other times I've flown in THAT very airplane (off grass and pavement), it performed as any other RV does. We took off from my home airport in Bloomington a couple weeks after that fly in, and it LE...

Frightening takeoff
Yeah, I don't really know why the video looks that way. I think he cleared the trees without any problems, but may have used less than full power for that departure for whatever reason. :? The other takeoff video that I have is a 9A and has the H6/MT combo, and I was riding along on that takeoff, a...

Thanks for the great post, Ross. You are a good source for Subie developement history. Sounds like we both agree that ALL Subie marketers have exaggerated their performance in the past. The question remains, though, is the H-6 making anywhere near 200 hp at this time. Even though it's a 6, it is onl...

Easy Ross!
Asolutely false, Ross. Jan has been saying for years that his engines are comparable in installed weight to Lycomings. And that's with the plastic, $9000 prop installed. Now he's admittiting to the need for aft mounted batteries....... The 4 cylinder was marketed as a 165 hp engine. Period. But ever...

Not the Best, Just Another Engine
Ross, I understand the need to do something "different". We are all building instead of buying, so we all understand that concept. Notice though, we are all building the hands down, best all around experimental on the market, bar none! For the last 3-5 years, Subaru converters have been representing...

STI
Robert Paisley in California flew one, but I understand he has removed it for an h-6. David Domier had a supercharged 4, but I don't remember
if it was an STI. He also changed out for an h-6, after an engine failure put him upside down in a field.
