Tribute to Chad

After I saw Chad's red pedals, I couldn't resist :) They came out really good. I was on the fence about what to do with the pedals...........Polished, or painted. Thanks Chad :) If the picture doesn't come out.......it's in the gallery under "Chappyd" I hate re-learning stuff, lol [img]http://www.ri...

Aerosport IO-375?

I was just looking at Aerosports website........... They are listing a 375 CI engine now, made with components from ECI. Any other news on this?? I'm pretty much set on Mattituck or Aerosport at this point. Aerosport's warranty is pretty impressive. I'm going to OSH for the first time this year, and...

Feels good, doesn't it :). I did mine 2 weekends ago. I love going downstairs to work on my "Airplane" now. Now I'm getting a lot of exercise because the tool I need is always on the other side of the plane, and with the ailerons on I can't get by on one side, lol.

Definitely cool.

Just an FYI. I got my finish kit this week. When I spoke with Van's about a week before it shipped, I asked how much shipping would be. She ( I forget her name) quoted me about $750 with ABF from Oregon to Connecticut. I asked if there was any other way to ship, and she said she'd shop some quotes a...

Haven't you got some riveting to do ? :)

Chad, I like your brake pedals. Are they powder coated? I've been wondering what to do with mine - polish them or paint. Seems like the paint would wear at some point, but powder coating might be an answer.

That really is too bad. I am planning to go to Osh this year for the first time ever, dragging my family in tow. I was really hoping to do the BBQ. I guess I overlooked the post on the "other" board, thinking it was the original post about hosting the BBQ. Bob, I always enjoyed your posts and really...

I installed my wings today! Pics have been taken, but not downloaded. Typing on the shop computer.

Wings are dead straight incidence wise. Triangulation quick check shows about .040 difference. Gonna put it to bed for the night, check it all about 3 times tomorrow, then drill the rear spar holes.

Ya got that right! I finished up my baggage area last weekend. I debated making the floors removable for about a week or so. Finally decided to just follow the plans. primed everything underneath and just did it. I really hate working with nutplates, especially in places I need to lean and stretch t...

My finish kit will be shipping in a few weeks. I remember when I talked to Van's about pricing for the fuse kit, she said that shipping for the finish kit was "substantially" more. I can't remember the reason, but I think it was due to the increased volume of the box. almost the same length and widt...

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier CJ, I couldv'e sent them to you. I went with Vans rivet/static ports. I think they'll be fine, can't get much lighter than an empty pop rivet, lol. I see where a lot of guys go with the fancy stuff, But I'm just building a VFR special :)

The use of spacers makes sure that when you match drill and rivet, everything is in perfect alignment so that your wing spars fit the slot perfect. I made up blocks of steel with holes for the bolts, and ground them to 1.438" ( I work in a machine shop) I wouldn't drill and rivet my fuse together wi...

I too am spending everything on this project. I stopped at the airport last Sunday. Rental rates for a beat up Warrior is $103 an hour!! My BFR slipped by last July, so to rent and fly 4-6 hrs a month will take 400-600 away from my RV a month. Sigh. I think I'll just suck it up and get this sucker b...
