Re: Weight problems

My question to those who have flying 7A, is your CG's within the manuals' specs? Thanks Dave I followed Van's suggestions and built my 7A light. 18 lb. Catto prop, light weight starter, parallel valve O-360, etc., etc. Even with 5/8" spacers between the engine mount and firewall I still have 32 lbs...

How about a Cozy IV? Pretty much meets your basic requirements. Major downside is longer runway required. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/k ... s/cozy.php

Steve, WOW! I missed that over at the other place. Nice job with the wire loom too! Say, do you notice that some times the red "X's" take longer to disappear and be replaced with data than other times or is your boot sequence always fast and complete? :) CJ I haven't really noticed it taking that l...

I recently finished a panel upgrade that added a GDU 370 PFD to my panel. The installation was really straight forward with no problems. Love flying it. You can follow my panel upgrade here: http://www.vansairforce.com/community/s ... hp?t=76546

This is the point where your UPS man is making daily deliveries and is not only on a first name basis with you but also with your dog.

I didn't insure my project until I brought the engine home. At that point I had spent approximately 2/3 of the total cost of my project. I actually made the phone call to Travers Aviation Insurance the day after we had a major tornado go through our area.

Ditto. Mainly because it contains the Lycoming anti-ware additive. A local service station, a quarter mile from our hangar, carries it in stock for us.

Two 45 degree fittings posiioned the drain so that it can easily be accessed from the bottom.

I will get a picture of my installation as soon as I get back from a breakfast fly-out tomorrow. My gascolator caught a lot of aluminum shavings from a fuel tank repair. I had to install access holes and covers in the back of my tanks so I could get in and replace several leaking rivets. I wasn't ab...

CONGRATULATIONS

I have been following everyone's progress but haven't posted much. I know what you mean about the right rudder; I came much closer to the line of trees that line the left side of our grass runway than I would have liked on my first flight. Now is the time to enjoy all of your efforts. Get out there ...

Actually pretty simple. You already have the airplane. Simply find a CFI that your wife likes and turn her loose to get her license. When you get your medical back you will have two medicals in the family; until then the two of you can fly together. My wife is going to start taking pitch hitter less...
