Just finished doing my Creative LED Nav lites with the 75 watt Halogen beaming throught the middle. Also have the strobes out in front. The circuit board is buried in behind the LED board, inside the tip cavity, and fiberglassed onto the back of the LED board with epoxy. My installation went pretty ...

Talking about GPS's. The last few days I have put in about 12 hours or so of flying using my new Lowrance 2000c. We have three other GPS units in the airplane, a Garmin GNS 430, a Garmin 295, and a Garmin IQue 3600. None of these are as cool as this Lowrance. I must admit this contraption gave me fi...

I am planning on coming for Thursday with my bud Hamilton from Milwaukee. That is, we will be commuting from Milwaukee. So far, I'm just coming for one day. Hammy let me take his "4" up to Kamloops today to pickup my partner so we can work on our "8". What a cool airplane! I was coming down the chut...

Capt. John Usually, the pitch attitude marks are every 5 degrees, the 10 degree marks are longer, the 5 degree marks are shorter. The 10 degree marks should have numbers attached, I.E. 10, 20, 30, all the way to 90 degrees. Most airliners/jets rotate to a pitch attitude of 15 to 20 degrees max. So t...

Six hours of Mountain Flyin, an I'm gonna see my Baby tonite
Whoooa! What a day. Severe clear today and I got up early to fly with my friend up to a wilderness airstrip perched on the side of a mountain. The strip is quite short, only 1100 feet and both ends drop off like an aircraft carrier and so it is a bit unforgiving. My friend is 65 and quite determined...

John, I like the Dynon stuff too. It's hard to get anything much bigger into an "8" panel. I noticed that the horizon does not have the attitude bars labeled with degrees. This is an important oversight in my opinion and I have pointed this out to Dynon. They said it is in the pipe but I will not bu...

Lyle, I have been experimenting with this. So far, I have tried a polyester featherfill, like BONDO as used in auto repairs, and then I mixed up some thick epoxy and daubed that into the shallow depressions to see how it would work. The automotive filler sanded the easiest and stayed level with some...

Yes, there is a fluid called "ICEX". This stuff has been around for years and it does work,.....for a short time. Obviously, any fluid film will erode very quickly while flying into ice particles which abrade the coating. However, it does work for a short time which is better than nothing. It can be...
