Way to go Chad! I guess I started mulling around rivetbangers again just in time to see you finish it up. Congratulations. Let me see..... 40 hours x 10 gph x $4/gal. = $1600 It could be an expensive month if you are going to make Oshkosh.

After thinking about it I should not have brought up the Glasair story. Poor judgment, you don't need any other "thoughts" with all the excitement of your first flight. You will be just fine, maybe a little nerve racking, but after the first time around it will all turn into confidence. The 3' takeo...

Hey Chad, I got a couple of looks at your progress and want to say congratulations on the build! Nice looking plane! My opinion (limited as it is) being a experimental pilot all the way (I learned to fly in a Bushby Mustang II of all things). I wouldn't do the take off landing thing all on the same ...

Tropical Option

I think that's the "Mexico" option, that way you can take a can of gas with you over the border. When you are getting low you can just pop the top and fill'er up. It'll keep you from having to land near Tijuana and risk getting plane jacked. :smash:

You got to check out this video.... http://youtube.com/watch?v=XS8X1FokJ7g I have a guy that wants to trade me his Luscombe 8F + $5000k for the Mustang, and after watching this video I am tempted. But Debra likes to fly fast up the coast right off the deck (we havent' hit any birds yet :o). Last tim...

To me it looked like too fast an approach, aborted landing with full power go around. I don't' think pitch exceeded 30 deg. or roll >60 deg. airspeed below 200 knots so no problem.... on mine I always have to pitch more than that to clear the trees at the other end :)

Always a great way to relieve stress....... The only bummer is when you go back and fill up the gas tank and begin to contemplate whether this is the future reality (gas prices) We are at $4.70 up here, what are you paying in Oakdale? I think Congress should subside aviation exploration and send eac...

Dick Rutan Safe After Emergency Landing

And it wasn't a Subaru  Dick Rutan Safe After Emergency Landing Dick Rutan has piloted many challenging flights, including going around the world nonstop in his brother's Voyager aircraft, but this Tuesday he had a close call while flying one of the simplest airplanes around -- a Cessna 150. They are out there.

Yea, I am learning a lot being a new pilot, there are some things you really have to look out for. I have heard several horror stories about mechanics "grounding" planes by outrageous fees when the owner refuses to pay. I just had an annual done on the Mustang II, $600 bones, and it included Mag tim...

Harbinger Checkride.....

I finally got my PPL ticket Monday! :yay: I would have updated my progress sooner but I was a little leary of having the internet police report me to the FAA (Paranoid?) :deal: and causing me trouble. Now that I have my ticket they can all take a hike (with all the other Sierra Club communist ...

Yeah, it works pretty good. But make sure you "browse" all the questions for the private pilot exam (about a 1000 questions), because when you generate an exam it does not seem to pull up all the different questions. If you browse all the questions then you get better coverage. I just passed my writ...

Yeah, but that's a lot of fire for $128 dollars. :x

It's a better deal than gas right now. It seems like it costs me $60 everytime I fire up the plane.

I stand corrected on the price of the Egg conversion. I thought it was in the low $30's by the time you were done. It would be nice to see the price come down further. The Subaru is a blast to drive especially on small twisty roads, but it's the acceleration and handling that are it's strength. It's...

I wouldn't be worried about pushing through it, just take it as it comes and enjoy the flying. I know someone who flew around on a "solo" student license for 20 years. :headscratch: I found a good place to practice for the written. http://www.exams4pilots.org/ It has an online database of exam quest...

Subarualicious?

Well, I have to go back to work in the land of the Great White Hippie, which means remote communication with the outside world. So....... before leaving I wanted to see if I could stir the pot a little. I will be curious what decision Chad finally makes for that fine bird he is building. Either one ...
