Thanks for the advise – But the problem I was having wasn't with the ribs, which were all true with 90deg flanges but with the skins themselves which did not seem to be nearly pre-formed enough. In particular the radius at the leading edge was not very well matched to the ribs. I clecoed the top s...

I tried that - but no luck. I found myself applying so much pressure by hand I was concerned about bending something. At least the straps distribute the load over the whole skin. My main concern is deformation at the front of the leading edge but that has not happened with the two ribs I've done so ...

Tank Ribs

I am having a heck of a time fitting the ribs to my tank skins in the cradle. I used my drill press and a micro stop. I built a guide that held them at the proper angle - worked pretty well. I used my squeezer to set the rivets using a method I found on some web site. I'll see if I can find it again for you

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions. Actually there is a fair amount of grime in my shop. I just spent two years building a house next door to mine and between saw dust and mouse turds the wings (both in stands center ribs attached to main and rear spars) managed to get pretty dirty even though I had them co...

Safe Cleaner

I have had both wings (spars with ribs attached) for my RV9 sitting in assembly stands untouched in my garage for the last two years accumulating grime. Any ideas on what household cleaner are safe to use to get the gunk off before I start working on them again?
