can a Cessna heretic join the house warming party? As for the building. I'm working on my shop, not my plane. In the next month or so I'm planning on pouring a floor. A bit of insulation, some wall board and electrical work, and I'll finally have a proper shop to work in. It's been a long road getti...

There hasn't been too much action. I've got a few more stiffener angles to rivet into place before I can call the bulk of the ribs finished. The closest I've come to working on my project in the past two months is when I installed some attic stairs in the garage so I could move some crap from downst...

Leave? me? Never! I actually pop in fairly often I just don't speak up much. This seemed like a good opportunity. I didn't end up going to Falmouth. I had my first flight review yesterday. By the time I made it to Hyannis and had finished lunch I was tired and just wanted to head home. Besides the s...

lunch on the cape
Hi guys.
I know it's short notice, but if any of you cape guys have the time, I'll be flying to Hyannis for lunch and then maybe over to Falmouth to check out an RV-12 project.
Dave? John? anyone wanna meet up and say hi?

I just said Goodbye
yesterday was a tough day. It was the day I had to make the decision to put my dog Ben to sleep. Ben was a good boy, and a great big brother to Zach. Unfortunately, his body was just not up to the task anymore. To see him laying around you would have thought he was fine. Truth was, he couldn't hardl...

I hear ya. I went in last week for a set of pliers. I came out with three sets of pliers (dad could use one :) ), three sets of micro screwdriver sets, a pair of gloves, an IR temperature sensor, a box of rubber gloves, and cleco pliers. They must pump subliminal adds through the canned music in the...

I'll think about pictures. After the cleanup, I doubt they would do the scene justice :o Lets just say it was 8 am on a Sunday morning, and I wanted to get something done before heading over to the farm. I chucked the squirrel cage stirrer in the drill press and slid the quart of paint in place. I f...

I learned that. . .
last weekend I learned that trying to mix a full quart of primer, with a drill press set to spin at more than 4000 rpm, can make quite the mess
What have you learned during your build?

granted TIG makes a pretty weld, but the margin for error with a TIG weld is a lot slimmer (so I'm told) than with a torch. The margin being for pre and post heating mostly. Then there is the price point for entry : My tanks were free (uncle), my torch was 1/2 price in excellent condition (friend bo...

not offensive at all. I am planning on putting my life, and that of anyone willing to go for a ride, on the line. I want harsh criticism. Please be brutally honest. Give me all of the tips, tricks, suggestions, slaps to the back of the head, practice drills, etc that you can think of. I plan on lots...

LOOKOUT! He's got a torch!
I finally got around to purchasing and setting up my all of the bits and pieces needed for my Oxy-acetlyene torch this past week. So, in between washing and priming parts, I've been practicing with pieces of my box-o-tubing from ASpruce. http://bearhawk949.com/images/wings/wing%20steel/first_joint.j...
