Tried to find something funny to post, but check out this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDI :o J Looking at your camp empties pile, I think "Chronic Daily Intake" fits. Chad - any chance of posting the Bomber girl pics - I missed it too when I went the next day. Just someone there older than t...

It's in Hortonville, WI, near Appleton. From Osh, go north on 41 to Appleton, left/west on 15 (Northland Ave) for a few miles to Hortonville. Go left/south on Nash, and it is at 503 S. Nash street. Here is google maps (if it doesn't work, put in "black otter supper club"): http://maps.google.com/map...

Hey, save that seat! I'll see you guys tomorrow! Weather looks like it will be good for a few days - here in Bloomington/Normal, IL, just had a bad storm which split half of a pear tree that fell on the garage right where my wings are stored near the ceiling :o :o . Fortunately, no damage to the gar...

Adding to Bob's comments, I used a multidrawer organizer, too. This time for the fuse, I separated all the different nutplates, washers, nuts, bolts into their own drawers besides the rivets. It goes much quicker now when I need a 515-838 screw or NA-blah blah-10L washer that I have no clue what it ...

It kind of reminds me of an ATM. But it takes your money instead of giving you money. Hilarious! I'll probably take a look at them at Osh, but I can't get around the aesthetics of the keypad nor the retro white outlines around everything including the bezel. But...she has a nice personality! Great ...

I would definitely do the inventory - four hours of work (IIRC) could save you a bit of $$ depending on what's missing. Up through the fuse kit, I was lucky, and only recall a single bolt of the wrong size which Van's cheerfully took care of. My technique is to go through the big bulky parts first, ...

While Greg's point is quite valid, I would argue the new technology ENHANCES safety and gives a pilot extra data to assist in performing the main job. I fly the DA-40/G1000 mentioned by Chad and love it. I was flying an old but (8000 TT) '76 Dakota through a local flying club, but resigned from them...

That's a valid point - can you give a measurement for absolute clearance from the center of rotation on your stand as built to the end of the step? That way anyone else could build it high enough or with the crossbeam configured to avoid interference. OK - I was just out measuring - you will also n...

I turn the 'bottom' to me, so no, I don't see any need. Only mod I still need to do is the center 2X4 that connects the two stands will have to be cut and then a connector plate added along the bottom, as the steps interfere at about 45 degrees. I don't want to raise the fuse any higher, so will jus...

Stupid question, What size should the hole for the conduit be? :? 3/4" seems awfully small. The conduit is very tight in 3/4" hole. If you are talking about Van's corrugated conduit, 3/4" is the proper hole. To pull the conduit through, stretch it as you pull through the hole, and give it a little ...

Welcome to the club - most of us have done it regardless of a pediatric handicap. What I would do is flatten the dimple with a regular squeezer flat set, file the hole if any rough edge with a needle/jeweler's file, then press on. I'll fill those few holes later before paint. I treated the nearby re...

Rotisserie done
I decided to build a rotisserie after rolling the canoe to save my back and make it easier to work the fuse innards. I used my old wings stands and modified them with pipe and flanges which bolt to a sandwiched plug in the firewall recess hole up front and to an offset board attached to the rear bul...

After sitting in some of these RV's, I see no value in angling an EFIS in a side by side arrangement - the cockpits are cozy enough, and you are close to the screen as is. In the DA-40 with the G1000 that I fly, the EFIS is right in front of you, but the second screen with the moving map and EMS is ...

Did this in my USAF days as a pre-med student. We went to 'altitude' in the chamber, then took off the masks. They gave us math problems to do - fairly soon, even easy addition problems were becoming difficult to solve. Color vision also starts to diminish. It was comfortable, hence the danger for p...
