My tech counsellor who is a NADEP Airframes technical guy for the Marine Corps indicated that it is perfectly acceptable to use a cupped set on both sides of a rivet.

That said, I wouldn't do it on every rivet, nor would I do it only for cosmetic reasons.

I have a cheap grinder from Harbor Freight. I took one of the blue grinding wheels that came with it and used the flat side to dress the wheel. In 5 min or so Ican make the scotchbrite wheel flat again.

Original message was posted on the Matronics RV List by Ed Holyoke when he encountered a problem getting new operating limitations issued. He took the issue to the EAA, and I believe he was going to engage AOPA as well. I've not seen a copy of the memo, but would like to see exactly what it says. PJ

My opinion for what it's worth: Avery's requires much skill on the part of the builder to avoid trashing your skins. Cleaveland's does not. I've got them both, I found that the Avery one is much harder to get consistent results with (in fact, I never did).

I drilled and cleco'd the AEX wedge to the top of my workbench, with the thin edge of the wedge aligned with the edge of the workbench. Drill through every hole, deep enough that the countersink pilot has somewhere to go. Then use the hand drill and the countersink cage. When you get to the second s...

The important thing about chosing an EFIS, is to make sure it is non-dependent on GPS input. That is, it will stand alone without GPS input. This is not the case with the Blue Mountain stuff . May want to double check your facts because this statement is incorrect. The Blue Mountain units do use th...

I have heard lately a lot of talk / rumors about how DeltaHawk is having problems with their engines. Cooling, wrist pin issues, etc. So far, I've gotten no response to my questions about this. Their website hasn't been updated lately. I very badly would like to put one in my RV-10. I've already mad...
