I've looked at that very route many times to get to Oshkosh, just have not gotten the kitchen pass yet. I scoot over Tahoe to Minden, NV for lunch often, I've just always turned around and flew back. One year I'll get to take my 6 all the way. A great job of documenting your route. Beautiful picture...

After living all my life about in the middle of the two oceans, I really miss it. Out here on the left coast it costs so much to live. Taxes on the over priced home, over priced state taxes, higher energy costs, and the one that really gets me, my property tax on my airplane!!! Every year! When I li...

I think the tape was put out by Mattituck. (sorry, I fly better than I spell) It was really helpful. You still have the hunt and find issues with all the bolts, nuts, washers, seals, ....... But when it comes to installation on some of the finer details the tape really helped. Like what side of the ...

Isn't that the worst place for access to a major nut? How did it feel to work on your engine and never get your hands dirty???? Ain't it a blast!! I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The engine looks great! Make sure you pre-lube it real good. Spin it with the starter for about 5 to 10 seconds at a time...

I know a couple of people who have done it and they cuss everytime they enter downwind.... It's up to you, but unless you have added something which is in the way, I would leave it. Better off spending your time installing an electric system... I have manual flaps on mine with the full length handle...

Lorin, Sorry we missed you also. Gayle and I flew in Friday afternoon and enjoyed walking around looking at the planes. We had fun dancing to the band, watching the air show and fireworks. When we got up the next morning, without much rest (long story but I am guessing the bar closed at about 2:00 A...

Watsonville Fly-In & Air Show
Any of you west coast RV'ers planning on making it over to Watsonville this week-end for the fly-in? My wife actually said she wants to try another flight!! We are planning on flying in on Friday afternoon, pitching a tent next to the RV and spending the night. We will most likely head out after the...

Jim, The Color looks great! I built up the Superior O-360 for my 6 and have just one tid-bit of advise for you. Just prior to closing the case, double check the stud located on the back of the case inside of the accessories case. It’s the one which you will curse while trying to torque it down. It’s...

Scott, I know your pain. When living in Oklahoma, I was lucky enough to actually log a few hours in the left seat in her. I know two of the pilots and one is a rated CFII which means LOG BOOK ENTRY for a B-17. We had worked the plane in Tulsa and the next stop for her was in Birmingham, Alabama. The...

I built up the Superior O-360 and overall I don't think I saved a huge amount of $'s. Maybe a few grand at the most. I think the bottom line is our hobby is not a cheap one. I think a great deal of the costs come from all the add on's we all choose. Glass vs. steam, electronic vs. mags, FP vs CS, ca...

I was in Guam for about half a month. Everything went well other than I flew through Narita (Tokyo) and hit the largest snowstorm they have had in over ten years. In all my years of travel I had never had to sleep in an airport, while fly in the big boys planes, until that trip. What a mess. Anyway,...

Hello All, I was overseas a few weeks in Feb. and since I have been back the weather has not let up for much flying. The rain finally broke for a while yesterday and I had a free evening, so I am once again night current. I had forgotten how pretty the lights of Sacramento and the surrounding area’s...

I pulled out Golf Delta and along with another RV6 friend, we even let a Cessna 182 join us, we flew down to Pine Mountain Lake E45 for a nice relaxing lunch. About a $70 burger. Parted ways on the return trip so I just floated around on the way back. It was a wonderful day out here in Central Calif...

Do you have any plans for this Saturday? I could buzz down to E45 for breakfast or lunch if you would like to meet up there, or somewhere else. I have not gone to very many places south of me. Auburn and Willows are good spots also, but may start to get a little farther for you. Of corse, Auburn is ...

Good to hear from you again svanarts. I had been wondering if you wanted to head down to Copperstate this year. I was planning on going all summer and early fall only to have a few family issues keep me from going to yet another fly in. I guess there is always next year!! We really have to hook up s...

Hey guy's, I guess I'm a day late and a dollar short, again. I was going to mention the difference in hp in a engine with the same cubic inches, or displacement will come from the ability to move more air efficiently. After all, all an engine is, is a device which moves air. Lyc changed the valve de...
