not too bad

once in a while I see a new photo. RV9A, not the fastest, not the sexiest, not good for rough grass strips, but what an airplane! Oshkosh 2022, after over twenty visits, this was my final time to go there. too many other places to go now. photo is owned by Mike Barker, Air-Britain Photographic. http...

Re: willful aircraft damage

Jabara, Clemens Aviation, said they would have security watching my aircraft. apparently, this guy was interested in my fuselage mounted side cameras. trail cam battery life is about 2/3, so probably good for 5-6 days. captured 267 photos. no problems with Clemens Aviation in Wichita, good FBO, very...

RV10 - aircraft down - ASN Report - PP-ZJA

A Van's RV-10 crashed on the land belonging to the flying club named Associação Barreirense Aerodesportiva (ABA). All three on board perished as a result. According to Globo G1, the plane took off around 10:20 lt, for a "test flight", crashing on the ABA terrain half an hour later. https://aviation-...

Hartzell - clean up your .stl act... :)

several people have pinged me about the new Hartzell hub and blade fixture for cutting the spinner slots. overall, it looks good. download here https://owncloud.hartzellprop.com/index.php/s/woWO3RNaXnnefnO you know, the worst thing you could ever do to a propeller is to the score it at the root with...

Re: a couple printed widgets

damaged spring on mechanized wheel chock. for some reason I jerked the rope outwards to release the rope instead of upwards and elongated the spring. it was the first time I had ever done that in 3 years. 5-minute spring replacement and good as new. rock on! what about a loop of safety cable thru th...

seatback trays curing. it says 24hr so that's what it gets. these have been very good for me in my aircraft, and I bang stuff into them, like bikes and baggage and they are in perfect condition. I was able to reach around and get my O2 meter on my last flight at 13.5k ft. https://i.postimg.cc/sDb8Cg...

Re: a couple printed widgets

I'm selling a few of these gust lock rope links and answering some questions, so I thought it would be better to sell these assembled rather than just the links. the slot allows pin tilt to ease attaching rope loop. the link is faster than tying a knot. https://i.postimg.cc/2jZ7CQt5/IMG2024022909324...

Re: a couple printed widgets

a busy printing week: gust locks, seatback trays, GPS docks, etc. I really like the new high flow nozzle for the tow bar stow mounts. I have to print these mounts with a full brim or they will lift from the bed during printing.

get the IFR rating. prefer to do it hand flying using no GPS and no autopilot, but more difficult to find NDB's now. it will make you a better pilot.

Re: 5 pepper breakfast burrito

I don't know if I can ever be in love with a food, but I may be getting closer. chile de arbol sauce with applewood pulled pork burrito is ringing all the bells. I strained the homemade de arbol sauce to make it smooth. it's a staple sauce. the flavor is just too good. a couple Juanita's in the sauc...

what did you do this week - 2024FW8

traveled from Cincy to Wichita Jabara airport. low clouds and getting lower, and cool on the way out but found a hole and jumped on top. you have to remember if you lose an engine, you will be going into the soup, so that is a risk. stopped at Lee C Fine airport on the way. installed the stab cam at...

Re: RV9 - aircraft down - ASN Report

yeah, and a tail wheel is more sensitive to winds. I have found that my landings are straighter if I look further down field. like driving a car, don't stare at the line beside you, look further out and you will be straighter.

I have no idea if these tail wheel chocks work very well. I just keep making them.

Re: a couple printed widgets

the fit is not bad for a prototype. needs some kind of foam to replace the rag, but the rag works and keeps it stabile. the difficulty is getting it up there. I am thinking about a telescoping pole with a matching cylinder on the mount to set the camera in place. the mount is robust and could suppor...

security cam mount for the vertical stab. I don't have the correct profile for tip fairing, just whacked something in there. a prototype. **************  there seems to be some interest in these. when I get it dialed in, I will make these freely available on Thingiverse under the name "RV Aircraft T...

tail wheel chock. I make these and ship them, but I never know if they work very well. I just don't get any feedback, a mystery part. weight = 6 oz and they feel good in the hand with no sharp edges. https://i.postimg.cc/qvhcSJ87/IMG20240221202456.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/zXfFwSvK/IMG20240221202511....

day and night vision motion detection security CAM to be high on the tail, 120 deg vision. cobbling together some type of mount. I don't have the best approach yet, just kicking it around. I purchased this camera for $30 and it had good reviews. I don't know if it's any good. if it is missing when y...
