Question for Scott... since he built and sold an RV-4 and then built his new Coyote. Scott, what say you? How differently would you feel today if you had sold your RV before finishing it? Any thoughts or regrets? You're the only one I can think of around here who has the experience to speak to Spik...

I'll definitely be there this year. I have to leave Thursday so I'll go to the BO if it's before then. I'm for sure camping with my plane. I really enjoyed it the first time I did it. They parked me right at the end, nothing between me and the runway. I'll be arriving on Sunday around lunch time - i...

First a Bearhawk, then a Coyote, now a hummelbird! What's next, an Avid?

I bet that would be a kick in the pants to fly, Chad!

And don't let the relatively short build times get to you either. :-)

You're going to love your RV.

RV's are great airplanes. But there's not much out there for the kitfox/avid guys. Us Rans guys will hang out anywhere. :)

Right Brian?

Thanks again all! I will definitely be at OSH this year so feel free to stop by and have a look. It isn't a show plane but them's not what I builds. Mike, technically I'm a RivetPopper. I think Spike was toying with the idea of a new site. But I have banged enough rivets for a lifetime. :)

The first flight took place as scheduled and went very well! The airplane performed well and will be even better after a few minor tweaks. I'm finally back in the air again! https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_-81zD6HAa9k/TU4ssaQk2BI/AAAAAAAAGO4/Usphrh80sUk/s640/DSC_0093.JPG The full story is here: h...

I had the same problem on the RV-4. I installed a Landoll harmonic balancer and that seemed to cure it.

I specifically asked if sport pilots can fly my plane, and the answer was an unqualified yes! I may own an RV again some day, but I won't build one. My wife has already informed me of that. I can always find another airplane, but I can't find another her. :)

Airworthy!

N612SV received her Special Airworthiness Certificate!! I am no longer a builder, I am an owner! First flight will be in two to three weeks. It is waiting on insurance and addressing the squawks that the FAA guy found. The biggest squawk in the inspector's mind was that the letters in the word 'EXPE...

Thanks everyone.

Spike,
This plane took 2 years almost exactly to the day to build. The RV-4 took 5 years. I may have another RV again one day, but I'm going to let someone else build it. 8)

I lied. The next update is... airworthiness inspection scheduled for 1/18. They gave me a 40 hour phase 1, and a test area that is a 50 statute mile radius from my home airport (O27). This is a free inspection being done by an FAA employee from Fresno FSDO. He emailed me the limitations ahead of tim...
