Ref your pricing, you may be missing a good deal on the O-360 and IO-360 ECI motors..........

yeah, jim is going that route. i don't trust myself enough to build the engine too. :o jim's numbers look good for the IO motor, but he also stated he won't save all that much in the end. if you take the $24,975 from his post, and add the other $4,000 he expects to have in it, and change the prop to a CS (apples to apples), you're still at $33.5k in the end. cheaper, but close.

i'm really excited to see jim progress through the engine build! 8)

Yah.... I need to get hold of the folks that are shipping the parts to me and find out how all is progressing. So far no reason to worry but I'd like to see some engine parts pretty soon or at least hear about them.

 just found an option for an electric CS prop to mount in place of the $9000 MT...IVOPROPS Magnum 3 blade with constant speed controller...$2640! looking for more info on it now, but it sounds pretty good! there's a guy in canada that is using it with good results (rv6ejguy on VAF). that chops $6360 off the package!

I built up the Superior O-360 and overall I don't think I saved a huge amount of $'s. Maybe a few grand at the most. I think the bottom line is our hobby is not a cheap one. I think a great deal of the costs come from all the add on's we all choose. Glass vs. steam, electronic vs. mags, FP vs CS, carb vs injection, inverted vs non..... the list goes on and on. Build what you want, do it right, fly safe, smile LARGE !

Yes basically airplanes fly on money and there is no way around that.
