Niagra

Post by Spike »

Patti and I flew out to Niagra for an overnighter this past weekend and had a blast. I had never been up there and a friend flying an 8A suggested we all go up to see the falls.

We flew up Friday afternoon and spent the rest of the day and all evening looking at the falls and checking out what was on the Canadian side of the border. I was surprised that on the Canada side it was alot like Ocean City with rides, games, putt putt, and the normal types of "fun city" types of attractions. It was definitely a blast.

The falls themselves are awe inspiring. The sheer amount of power that they possess is just awesome. I really liked hanging out on the American side right next to the drop off and just watching the water crest over the edge.

Our friend met up with us on Saturday and we did some more exploration over the course of the afternoon. We took off late afternoon for the flight home.

The weather was outstanding. I don't think that we saw a cloud in the sky on Friday and the visibility was so great we could spot the water mist from the falls a good 20 miles away.

I highly recommend a visit if you ever find yourself in the area.

Kind of odd 'eh? Apparently they are working on their unemployment rate. I saw a guy walking around the ramp carrying a gallon of white latex paint and a creeper...

Niagra Falls is quite the demonstration of water power. I've been there many times (only about a 2 1/2 hour drive) and can't wait to be able to fly my own plane on the tour circuit.

Those are some nice pictures! The weather this past weekend in the area was outstanding (our Thanksgiving Holiday weekend to boot). In my city it was 77F yesterday, so the big Oktoberfest parade was well attended, Niagra wasn't that much different I think. Always cooler around the falls though with all that evaporating water.
