Strobe wire

Post by captain_john »

Hey guys,

I am getting ready to pull in some wires and was wondering...

Should I substitute the cheesy strobe wire cable that came with my Strobes n' more kit with some real airplane MS27500 multi conductor 16 AWG cable instead?

The 27500 will be smaller in the bundle. I am also wondering if it will be elecronically quieter as well?

What are your thoughts?

This is the stuff that comes with the kit...

It just doesn't look aviation grade.

Looks like Whelen cable to me...

That looks like the Whelen stuff I bought from ACS - I think Strobes 'n More sells Whelen also, so that might be the cable you have.

You'll want twisted wires with a solid shield to keep radiated noise down, so unless MS27500 has those characteristics I'd stay with what you have. It may look cheesy but it's probably the best stuff for the job.

Strobes? People still use those antiquated heavy things???? Make the plunge to LED's......or watch your wingtip lens melt under the intense heat of the incandescent nav lights!

I can see it now.....CJ will be a part of the night airshow at OSH!

I'd stick with the wire that came with it. definitely want the shielding.

Doc, yup... done deal!

Just got done jerkin' wires for the night.

Everything is wired down the tailcone now.

Getting the whips out to the wingtips next.

After that is done, I will start tightening up the bundles and running antenna cables.

We have an engraving machine at school. I bought the material to make all the placards and switch labels already. Once I am satisfied with the layout, I will begin cutting that stuff.

Coming along...
