anti rotation bracket

Post by tshort »

Did you guys get 2 pieces of AA6-125x1x1x1 or did you have to cut this out of an 8" piece?
I have an 8" piece of the angle (AA6-125x1x1x8) but I am not sure if this is for something else in the wing (can't imagine what...?) and want to make sure before I cut it to make the bracket...

Thanks
Thomas

Can't remember, but if that is all you have, then I'd cut what you need from it. Angle is fairly inexpensive for that size and length if you did happen to need another 8" piece anyway.

Yeah ... only problem is, I 'll realize I need it on Friday afternoon of a 3 day weekend when it is critical to what I want to do ... :bang: :bang: :bang:

I'll probably cut it - if no one can think of a need for the 8" piece. I am almost done with the wings and can't think of a place for it to go...

CUT IT ALREADY!!!

I think that is the slice you want anyways. Besides, you aren't gonna need much of it anyways!

Hey Thomas,

If I remember correctly those 8' pieces are used for the making longerons and brakets for the fuse. Since yours is past the stage of needing them I would say it is safe to cut away.

Thomas,

I remember cutting the anti-rotate brackets from a short piece of angle as you describe ... and I remember it was over-size and allowed me to make another bracket after I made the first "practice" piece.

I found it easier to cut the bracket oversized by a little, then drill the holes, then go back and trim it down to final size. On the practice piece, the hole-to-edge distances came out a little thin. Probably not super critical here, but I wanted it to look nice, (as if anyone would ever see that!)

You have seen van's service bulletin, http://www.vansaircraft.com/pdf/sb06-2-23.pdf, right?
