pulling engine with mount and gear attached

Post by hydroguy2 »

so anyone else pull the engine, so they can rivet the side hinges. Well I did, by myself!

I was having trouble getting access to proper riveting around the mount, so off she comes. Easy Peasy! I used a ratchet strap to help keep alignment. Anyway here's a couple of pics in case anyone is wondering.

It was easier than I thought it was going to be. I just came in from riveting the firewall and thought about reinstalling it already. I won't hesitate to yank it again if I need access.

NICE PIPES!!!

I heard that single pipes were the rage but I never saw them on a -7 before.

Where did you get them?

Tell me about your heat muffs. What are the plans there? Do you think they will be any hotter or cooler than other styles?

I have a 4pipe system from Vettermans and have a muff similar to this pic. Except inlet and outlet are straight.

I'll get have some other pics in day or two, as I'll be working on installing the muff. I really like how the pipes fit and performance, according to Vettermans, is pretty much equal to other systems. I think there may some 4 to1 system out there that may perform better, but I couldn't find any tests that showed that.

Anyway the Vetterman pipes are perfect workmanship, price was excellent and he got them to me 2 weeks before he said they would be ready. Call Larry to discuss, just have some time available, he likes to talk. 2 thumbs up

CJ- here's an installed pic of my heat muff.

I'll have to wait for the baffle work before installing the inlet SCAT.

That looks like a really nice setup (exhaust and heat muff).
I'll bet you get some nice heat from a double wide unit like that !

Sure could have used it the other day flying in 17 degree weather.
