Rolling elevator leading edges

Post by wjbruner »

Preparing to roll elevator leading edges. It makes sense that the top skin would roll down and over on top of the bottom skin to easily shed water. However, the bottom skin is slightly longer that the top which would seem to indicate it is to be rolled over on top. Depending on which drawing you look at, it is shown both ways. Can anybody offer anything on this?[/u]

I suggest the top skin overlap the bottom skin just for water drainage reasons. In the end it really doesn't matter ascetically because the rolled edge is trucked under the horizontal stabilizer anyways.

long skin over the short one. it's tough enough to fit that edge without trying to stretch the short side. Plenty of other ways for water to get in and out of that area.
