Well, with all the talk about primer, I swiped this pic from Svanart's home page along with the subject title:
It looks to me like the bellcrank is VariPrime and the interior wing skin is Sherwin Williams. Am I right?
If so, you can still read the 2024-T3 Alclad designation on the sheetmetal. This is indicitive of a nice thin coat of product (if there is one there at all). A layer about 1 mil thick will allow you to see marks made by Sharpies and the AL manufacturer if left in place prior to painting, like this.
