Leading edge W-408 question

Post by JohnR »

Okay, so we got the leading edges on and I drille the left wing W-408 and the strip for the tank attach. I must say I'm not real happy with the fit of the W-408. It isnl't real bad but everything else has gone together very smoothly and we had to fight this piece. Has anyone else had any issues with it?

I ended up scratching the alclad significantly and have one spot wiht a gap between the 408 and the skin/tank strip. I can probably fix the gap and some primer will take care of the scratches, but I am just wondering if there must be an easier way. :bang:

I followed the instruction in the manual but I know on several other things there have bee nbetter ways I've seen posted. I just don't remember seeing anything on this.

I followed instructions to the "T" on the 408's and joint plate's too John. I ended up in the same boat as you with scratches and a tough fit. It's quite an annoying part that could be a little better engineered, I'm sure. I'm no engineer, so I follow the directions set before me (for the most part). I was unhappy with it to start as well, but it turned out ok. Like yours, mine will need some touch up with the primer...
