Tank dimples

Post by tshort »

Anyone used the Cleaveland tank dimple dies?

I just riveted the stiffeners onto the tanks today ...
The rivets are not proud of the skin - they are very flush. However, there is a thin rim of proseal just under the head - on most of them if I put my finger there it will catch a nail. I guess this is normal, I just worry about the rivets "working" over time. How are your tank rivets?

Proseal kinda sucks ... it is not as bad as I thought, but sure is sticky. I don't really think it stinks at all ... ? Maybe because I smell some nasty stuff on a daily basis at work... :) :)

That's normal, and how mine are. Those rivets will never work. The sealant will keep them in place forever. Sealant is REALLY nasty stuff to remove once it's cured, and the rivet will be stuck in there for good.

Yah Thomas, what Chad said.  I think they'll stay put. I used the Cleaveland tank dies and after using them a little bought a full set of their dies. I think they just make better dimples for some reason. I like them!

The proseal isn't that bad once you get a routine. It is sticky though!

I used the Cleaveland dies too.

Take the hole deburring tool to the dimple when you are ready to rivet. It will give you a bit more dimple and a flush appearance!
