Static Port, stainless

Post by MachineMan »

Not trying to steer business away from Possum works... but Just thought I'd pass on a static port option that I did.

"vented" stainless cap screws are available from mcmaster carr, p/n 93235A245 having a .046 hole drilled thru,
all you need to do is to turn/grind the head to the preferred shape.

The 10-32 thread fits snug into SAE J844 Type A tubing (air brake tubing)
Just add some proseal or equiv.

I have a lathe now, so I think I might do it that way, if for nothing but the DIY spirit :)

Nice work Rich!

I think Possumworks doesn't want to sell many units, as they really don't advertise.

I talk to Mark (PossumWorks) about once a week... He is a great guy, and has just finished building an RV-7. I know he has been as busy as a one-armed paper hanger lately but is about to announce a really cool item for side-by-side RV's.

I bought my static ports from him for $25 (including postage). If your time is worth less than that then go for it.

That does look nice. I didn't realize vented screws were available.

Actually they are. If you go to http://www.mcmaster.com/ and enter 93235A245 in the search you will get the page with info. Looks like $7.62 for a 5 pack.

'Aircraft Spruce' do a selection of Static ports, which should be suitable for most builders requirements
