Aileron Stop

Post by Doakes »

Fellow builders,
I have a question about the aileron stop. If I place it as indicated in the drawings, will it be in the right place to restrict travel both down and up?
17 degrees down and 37 degrees up.

Thanks
Dave

yes. Actually the way it works is once you set the "up", the "down" is fixed on the opposite side.

I like the "delrin stop" method placed on the aileron control rod

What is the "delrin" system on the aileron rod? I've not heard of this, sounds good.

Dave, the "delrin stop" is a 1/2" (as I recall it) rode with a #10 hole drilled through the center of it and pit on the aileron pushrod bolt to limit the aileron's travel. The delrin will very delicately tap on the aileron attach horn whenever it reaches max travel.

Mine is all together right now but I could try to get a picture if need be.

Do you know what we mean?

It is a pretty slick setup.

Dave,

I went with the nylon bushing method for my aileron stop. My outer diameter was 3/4". Here was my end result:

And all the details to how I made it:

Guys,
Thanks so much for the time you have taken to tell and show me with pictures how to make the delrin aileron stop.
I have ordered some delrin stock.
I still am having trouble grasping however, the "down" portion of the stop. How does that work using the delrin stock?

Thanks so much.

It dawned on me today how the down stop works. When one wing is up to the stop the other is down. therefore the stop down.
Thanks so much for the help.
