Cowl horizontal latch pins - give the tang a bend

Post by A2022 »

a little bend on the latch pin tangs makes them lay flat against the cowl. when you rotate them 90 degree, they clear the cowl. this method is lightweight, inexpensive and quick to make. you can't beat it. 12 years of use on these pins and hinges with no maintenance or repair. doing anything else is a waste of time and going backwards. I prefer function and reliability over cosmetics. I have seen some beautifully painted aircraft that I would not get in because I know what underneath is lurking.
