Our EAA Chapter of around 60 members would like to put together a tool exchange program. In a nutshell, members would identify any tool they would like to share with other members, therefore saving members a few dollars.
I would be interested to hear if other Chapters are doing something similar? How can we make something like this work? What doesn't work?

Our chapter has done stuff like this in the past and I believe that it worked out well. This is especially useful for things like scales and tools that are expensive and not used a bunch.
A good way to go would be to have the members keep their individual tools and have the chapter keep a master list of what is availalbe. That makes it easier for members to keep track of where their tool is.

We have an unofficial program. Meaning, ask your buddy if you can borrow his c-frame for a few weeks, he says sure, you bring it back when you're done. That's how our chapter works.

I'm fortunate to be part of the Home Wing, Chapter 105. The chapter has an impressive number of quality, useful tools in our chapters "tool crib". These are tools that would be expensive for an individual to buy, or items that may be used only once or twice. Here's a link to the chapter site. You can contact the "toolmeister" if you like and ask him more specific questions. I'm sure he'll be happy to help your chapter get started on a valuable project like this.
