Holiday Challenge
Happy Holidays all!
Its time to start a Holiday Challenge tradition here at RB. Everyone interested needs to pick a goal related to your RV, most of us will pick a building goal I imagine. The challenge is to meet your goal by Tuesday 1/2/2007. Make sure whatever you pick, its a stretch. We need this to be challenging after all.
If you participate, tell us what your goals are going to be. You should check in every day or two and post an update as to your progress towards the challenge.
Im Obviously In. My goals :
1) Get some software updates on the server to help out with spammers, make some general changes, and get a new moderator on board.
2) Get my wing jig built. Get the first wing's ribs primed, fitted to the main spar, and riveted on.

- cut and bend all of my wing rib stiffeners.
- finish and maiden my rc model
- find and fix leak in barn roof
- fix exterior stall door on barn
- Heck, lets just say; attend to all barn deficiencies
- build loft door for garage
- convert a free nat gas heater I just aquired to propane
- bend my wing spars(this one is def. a stretch)

This sounds like fun!! But, I have nothing to work on until that week...probably the end of that week.
If my boat counts...oh wait, that's not at all RV related...
My bathroom remodel??? If I don't get that done, I won't be able to start on the fuselage when it gets here! How 'bout that??? My goal is to be FINISHED with the bathroom BEFORE 1/2/2007.
Does that count?

Okay, I'm in. I probably won't make this, but I sure would like to have the center section of the fuselage primed and ready to rivet together. Even better would be to have it riveted!
Merry Christmas all!

I'm always up for a challenge, especially when it comes to competing in sports, racing, whatever.
Alas, when it comes to Christmas Holiday, my focus is more on my family, 2 sons and my wife. This year we are having all the relatives visit our house so I probably won't get too much building done.
I do plan on spending some time today on the project though. I want to "try" finish the throttle quadrant and switch console areas, prime a few more misc parts, and paint the rest of the interior.
I am shooting for some serious build time though for Jan/Feb as I want to have the gear mounted and get it plumbed and wired during those months so that it's ready for the canopy and wing mounting and all the fiberglass stuff for spring time. If I'm lucky, it will be flying in the Fall of 07.
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone !

I guess my goal would be to actually start working on my project again. Haven't really touched it for about 6 weeks. Wasn't sure if I was still going to have a job after Dec 31st, but just found out my government contract was extended for 18 months. I also bought the family a puppy so that's a huge project itself. From the way it looked on this site no RV builder is complete without a dog so we got a Yellow Lab. Now if I could just just teach him not to chew on everything I might let him hang out in the shop.

Labs are chewers! You will also need to make him confortable in the shop. My golden was skittish in the shop, I think because he wasn't "raised" out there. Wyatt is fine out there.
Me? I would make a corner comfortable for him. Put a bed there with all his toys in it and chain him there until he behaves enough to get cut loose.
Take him off the chain once an hour or so to play with him and do the simple tricks and give him treats.
I bet within a month you will be all set! ALL set!

my RV plans
We're back from Florida now and the wing kit is (finally) unpacked and inventoried.... My Holiday challenge is to finish both front and rear spar work, up to where I'm working on fluting ribs. This means putting is a LOT of nutplates!
This will be a little hard because I'm not sure how I'm going to prime the rear spar now that it is winter time. My garage is heated but I don't want to fill it up with primer fumes.
Sure is good to be building again!

Nice looking pooch you got there, Bill
I just got my preview plans yesterday, and I'm not sure what all the fuss is about
In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I'll have a flyable (maybe not 100% complete) RV at the end of this challenge
Merry Christmas everyone

I am not sure I will meet my challenge now that this virus I have is kicking my butt!
I lost today and won't get much done tomorrow. I have to go to the FBO on tuesday and before ya know it... the week will be over!
