Call toll-free and complain about FSS!

Post by captain_john »

I spotted this in the Airventure newspaper while out at OSH.

http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/newsitems/ ... 23fss.html

You can call and leave a message complaining about FSS and how long it takes to get a briefer on line.

WS says that he calls when he leaves his house and often does not get a briefer before he reaches the airport!

I just called and left a message. Perhaps you will too?

Actually, I haven't had an issue so far. but Bridgeport is still open. I've heard plenty of horror stories from others who haven't been as lucky as I.

It just takes me FOREVER to get through!

The guys at Bridgeport are VERY helpful, but getting to one is the hardest part!

They closed the Green Bay station :x Now I get some joker (after a sometimes long wait) who knows nothing about Wisconsin weather.

Give it a few years and we will be talking to someone in India.

FSS service has decreased

Post by aparchment »

I tried to close my flight plan after leaving SFM when the Pres was in town a few weeks ago. I gave up after holding for 20 minutes.

When I call for my briefing it takes at least 5 minuetes to get through.

Service has definitely got worse in terms of timeliness.

The quality of the briefing is still good though.

Had a flight on Wednesday afternoon with a new student who only has a couple of hours in his logbook. I wanted to give him the opportunity to get a 'by the book' weather briefing from Bridgeport FSS.

After wasting 20 minutes of our time and his money waiting for a briefer, we gave up and used DUATS. :bang:

Antony, when Rootin' Tootin' and Putin were in town, I canceled in the air.

I knew that getting through on the phone would be ridiculous!

HEY!

I added a poll asking if you called.

I was wondering how many people called.

If you did, please indicate so here.

I will be first!

I just had a 22 minute wait on the phone to get to an available briefer.
:x

I called in to leave a complaint... just for the wait time though as the briefer was friendly and helpful.

ABSOLUTELY!

When I called, in no way did I "dis" the briefers!

The wait was all I had to complain about. I made that clear on my message too.
