I think I got Lucky on E-BAY!!!
I think I got Lucky on E-BAY!!!
Well, I am keeping my fingers crossed until the motor is checked out, but I think I scored a deal on Ebay. About a week ago I bought a wrecked RV-8A on Ebay, hoping it would provide lots of parts for my project.
It looks like it was a good purchase, outside from the radios, (a KX-155 and a KT-76 trans) everything on the plane has 192 hours since new.
The CS hartzell prop (no AD hub)has been checked at a prop shop and is being overhauled, and the engine crank is straight so hopefully the teardown will go ok. All of the instruments and gauges power up, and the Dynon D10A works great.
I think I got lucky!! It aint pretty, but the parts I want seem to be checking out!!

The accident was bad enough, but the two people in it were not seriously injured.
What would have been the worst for me would have been the fact that they were stuck in it for an hour hanging by their belts waiting for help to get them out.
The airframe is junk, but my fuse should arrive soon, and I will be able start swapping parts.

Sweet deal! If your prop overhaul doesn't cost that much and your engine is in good shape, you got yourself one heck of a deal!

Good Luck Lance. I hope the engine and prop work out for you. Hopefully the engine baffeling is reusable. Check all the accessaries carefully. Also a lot of the firewall forward stuff may be salvageable. I have purchased some used instruments from Wentworth in Minneapolis however most of them have to be yellow tagged. That can cost almost as much as a new one sometimes. However I got a used gascolator from them that came with a fuel line and two fittings. I also got a used heat box from them. Transponder and other items. So with a little luck you may have more than you realize. My plane isn't flying yet but it is getting close. I hope to fly that way sometime this fall and would like to land at your place and see your project. Again from on North Dakotan to another.

Thanks for the replies, I plan I getting everything checked out this summer, and hitting the project hard this winter. I expect to be able to use most of the parts, as they are all pretty new. I am a farmer, so my time is not real valuable in the winter.
I got some bad news on friday, my QB fuse that I ordered the beginning of November and was told would be delivered in Feb/March 08 is nowhere near. It is scheduled to leave the Phillipines on the 28th, and show up in OR about a month later. Funny how a 4-5 month lead time can become 7 months!!
Bob, I would love to have a visitor, vistors are welcome anytime! Maybe I can come and see your project.
