Perfect Saturday Flight

Post by bullojm1 »

Yesterday my friend Dave and myself made a day trip to Ocean City, MD. The full writeup is here:
http://www.rvplane.com/?categoryid=10000&dayid=1115

And the highlights:

Approach into OC, MD airport:

Our $25 rental car:

Strange error message on the console. De-icing boot malfunction?
Image

Our destination - the Dogfish Head Brewpub in Rehobeth, DE:
Image

Lunchtime Beverages. Passenger got the good beer (Dogfish Head 61 - IPA and Red-wine mix). I tested it to assure it did not contain any poison in it, as well as to confirm its delicousness. NA beer for the pilot....
Image

The meal. Fantastic burger with beer battered onion rings.
Image

To-Go Beverages. You supposedly can't buy Dogfish Head spirits anywhere else than this Brewpub.

And back in the air to go home home:

2.2 hours in the air, and an awesome day at the beach. Couldn't of done this without the RV!

That is a great flight. This was the perfect weekend for it. I got a few hours myself though in the other directions to see the last of the snow up in PA.

Hey Mike,
Came across this thread randomly and realized you were the RV I saw on the ramp that day at OXB. You have q great looking plane. You certainly beat us with the car, Don gave us a sweet blue minivan! Will have to check out Dogfish next time we make the trip.

Pat-

Sounds like we just missed each other! I enjoyed reading your writeup. I'll have to take Don's Jaguar off-roading in the sands of Assateague island next time! 8)

If you're ever in the KDMW area, gimme a holler!

Sorry to be so slow answering you, Bob. Still not taking flying lessons yet, but hope to start sometime this summer perhaps. Money is tight, and I'm still climbing a steep hill buying things for the RV's firewall forward phase. Just starting wiring and I have my panel all planned out. Lots of money to spend! I'm hoping to time it right so that about the time I'm finishing up my PPL, the RV will be about ready to go. :)

She's on her gear, the engine is hung, and here's a shot of her outside enjoying the sunshine and nice weather recently:

Bruce looking good. I know how tight the money can get at this stage of construction. Keep up the good work.
