This is a Hangar that belongs to a joker i was working with at Qantas, in Australia. The Hangar is on the Tauranga Airport, which is about 4 or 5 hours drive from where i live (Bulls). I ended up with a week off, and offered my services banging rivets with him, so here we are.
from the top...
ZK-CIP, a Piper Cherrokee. I've been offered this plane at a good rate to do my pilots licence, and generally just thrash round in. Only 140hp, but still, its a tremendus little plane.
The Chipmunk is the Hangar Owners personal transport. Yes it gets flown upside down from time to time.
Cessna 185. this is an ex-Vietnam bird, we're fitting some new skins to it, will only be a handfull of original skins on it when we're done. Its going to be a VERY nice little plane.
The Glasstar is just renting space in the Hangar, is destined for the UK, has a G-rego on the side of it. It is a truely stunning plane, i'll try and get some more photos of it with its covers off next time im up that way (if its still there)
The Jodel belongs to a man that not long turned 81, and he was flying it right up to his birthday! man, thats what i want to be doing at that age!
The TigerMoth has been COMPLETLY restored, and its certainly one of the nicest flying examples i have seen.
The Insty panel of the Cessna (original part). I believe its getting canned in favour for some more modern avionics upgrades.
Me posing next to the Cessna, gives you some idea of the size of the job we're tackling.
On the same airfield there is rather a lot of homebuilding. Two longeze's (i think thats what they were called) several Seawind 3000's, an RV-6 (90% complete) an RV-6a (on its wheels, but no wings yet) a whole bunch of Gyrocopters, and i saw THE sexiest RV-4 while i was there too. Also a fantastic array of Warbirds, a couple of Harvards, P-51 there somewhere, a Dragonfly, and a bunch of other neato stuff. unfortunatly i ran out of time to happy snap, maybie next time im up that way.
The Cessna looks like a cool project! I would personally like to fly the Jodel! Tell me more about the old man's plane. How many HP's instruments, performance, etc...
Pretty cool!

It's all over but the flying! 800+ hours in only 3 years!
