perhaps configure the engine like a C172? ...that's flight time experience! something you can depend on. talk to your local flight school that operates 20+ planes all year round and see how they configure the engine. that's better than a onesie experience from a guy on the internet that rarely flies, or if he does a flight, it's 15 minutes or less, every now and then. look at the numbers. does that make sense? I have found that taking a box of donuts with you helps when asking questions. do not underestimate the POWER OF DONUTS!

what's flying at 8PM EDT on a Saturday on FlightAware. I am beginning to wonder why RV's rarely fly. if you are flying your RV, most likely you are the only one airborne of that type, except for the RV-12. perhaps folks are under the plane admiring the clean belly or shining the paint. I believe the RV community has a real problem.... for whatever the reason, they are not flying. that's a lot of wasted money.

RV's amount to 1 percent of these. a big 1 percent. if you remove the 12's you are down to 0.5 percent. that barely registers and from a data perspective is insignificant. perhaps configuring the engine to be close to 99 percent of what's flying would be a good idea?
