the trouble with printing is that when you make something for a relative, then all the others want one too. a simple phone stand...

Image

match that with your gold phone case... :)

you don't even need a face mirror anymore, just look at yourself in the back of the phone.

this is crazy... $1400 for a phone case! never underestimate the power of Vanity.

shipping some 30 degrees, 6.35mm (0.25 inch) dia ignition wire baffle seals. someone attempting to have smoother wire flow. it would be nice to have a couple photos of the installation, but I never seem to get those. It just goes to show if you invent something different, someone will find a use for it. I think it's a worthwhile endeavor to be able to put a part in someone's hand, no matter how small.

printing flap lever paddles today. I make about 50 of these at a time, 1K dollars' worth. a small part...

the textured surface gives a nice feel, similar to the printed throttle knob.

3M Dual Lock still hanging in there after 3.25 years. I think the key is to scuff the plastic and use fresh dual lock. Doggy stake = 1.1 lbs.

It is exposed to hangar temps, hot and cold, and some vibration from the air compressor.

inspecting the tail because that's all that is visible from here. those plastic parts have been there six years.

the rudder looks pristine, or at least as good as when it was made. :)

working to create a lower profile elevator gust lock with a thin metal web per a request. this one is smaller when compared to the existing metal web version that can use both bolts and cam pins. this one cannot use cam pins. the new version uses 10-32 bolts vs .25-inch bolts for the existing. this is a simple part that most folks should be able to design and make at home and hold in their hand within a couple hours.

elevator gust lock, cam pin version - reduced size. you could use one of these on the underside in concert with the low-profile version.

the extended metal web on one side allows for easier installation of the cam pins. only need cam pins on one side. two cam pins install the elevator and rudder gust lock completely for this configuration. I recommend using a stiff rope with these such as 1/4-inch Dyneema flight line rope. I have been using this same rope for the past six years and it's in good shape.

I made one of these low-profile elevator gust lock webs today for the left-hand side. the metal web version is good for tight elevator horn to fairing gaps. anti-chaff cowling tape is trapped in the gust lock and holds well over time. I use the full plastic (nylon / glass fiber) version because it is less clunkier and you get a better fit if the gap is wide enough for it to fit. :)

the first low profile elevator gust locks that use a thin metal web are ready to go.... shipping in yellow! beautiful parts. the user supplies the .032 alum and makes the web. it's not difficult to make the web. I located the web in the center of the cutout, then marked the center of the hole with a drill bit. I then dimpled the hole and used an .040 drill to make the hole and then opened it with a sheet metal step drill tool. step drill tools are sized for this. insert the screw in the made hole to hold position, and repeat. it will look like the lower photo when it is completed. the gust lock slot is sized to capture the Teflon anti-chaff tape completely. the plastic material is ASA and is very UV resistant.

note: in order to use these for the metal web, the elevator horn and hor stab fairing need to be in line with minimal steps, because I don't yet print the metal web version for steps, maybe some day. otherwise, you will need to use all nylon / fiber glass version where I can make the adjustment for steps. I suppose you could call me Dr. Gust Lock!

exhaust pipe discourager for engine dehydration.... I don't know if it will make a reduction in engine dryness. before I placed these on the humidity was 16-17 percent, after a couple hours it was 15 percent, but I really don't trust these cheap sensors except for gross effects. I am measuring the return line from a closed loop.

rigging another gust lock with the quick pin latch for demo purposes, 30 minutes. proven to be able to withstand the worst Oshkosh storms without any damage. does not induce large forces to the control linkage like some other gust lock designs. store it in a soft bag so it doesn't stab you in the heart. call me Dr. Gust Lock. :)
