I am thinking... 8 rivets. Three on top, three on the bottom and one on each side.

That doesnt look so bad CJ. Could you just use it as the perimeter for your lense attachments? Drill it out and dimple it the other direction, poof, gone.

Nawww, I wish it were that simple. That is center wing. The light goes outboard. That little "Bullethole patch" I made out of the wing material that was displaced from the light kit.

It will go on the inside of the skin and once it is dimpled, will be invisible after some filler.

This method has been around since they started shooting at airplanes and the FAA has well documented the repair.

May as well give it a try!

Looks like you got the "oportunity" to learn a new skill with that bullet hole ding!

What's up with the Duckwork lights? I thought you were thinking about the wingtip creativeair lights? What changed your mind? I'm pretty close to spending some money on lights too.

Well, that is true my nutty friend!

Things that tipped the scale in favor of the Duck were:

1) A percieved better illumination of the taxiway. I really would HATE to have an incursion and it be MY fault!

2) Less stuff going on in the wingtips. I may have an Archer antenna, strobe stuff, LED Nav lights, and who knows what else in there. Less is more.

3) This is easier to do NOW rather than later.

I was sold on the Creativ stuff, but I just HAD to make a decision.

How is your project coming along?

I hear you on that busy wing tip. Are you thinking of going with the Dynon? I think it has some magnetic-compass thingy that wants to be mounted in the wing tip too. Maybe I ought to build a bi-plane so I can use four wing tips to hold all this stuff!

The plane building has come to a stand-still. I've been distracted with another "good idea". The shop was becoming a bit of a mess ... I needed to build some shelves to make some room ... but I thought I ought to fix up that wall before I put up shelves ... so one thing has lead to another ... I removed a window, I pulled all the wallboard off, fixed some big holes I found, put in a nice vent fan, insulated the wall, removed some scary looking wiring ... its almost ready for the new wallboard now ... and where did all this start from? ... oh, yea, those shelves. I should be back to banging on aluminum "real soon now".
