High Altitude

Post by captain_john »

Just curious... what is the highest altitude you have had your RV up to?

I see that Van puts a solo service ceiling of 28,600' for the RV-4!

WOW!!!

Isn't the Exxon Flying Tiger a modified RV-4?

RV-7
Garmin G3X with VP-X & a TMX-IO-360 with G3i
It's all over but the flying! 800+ hours in only 3 years!

11.500. Almost gave this old Champ driver nosebleed. And yeah, I was on oxygen.

Some RV drivers routinely fly at 15,000 for cross country flights. And yes, they do have oxygen and warm clothing! I plan to install Ox in my plane because I fly long range over the mountains in excess of 11,500.

Went to 14,723' yesterday, still climbing when I noticed an O2 system problem; so went back down to try again another day.
