I'm curious as to how far everybody drives to their airports.

Here's a shot of my route from my house to KBMI...

OH MAN!

That is an AWESOME COMMUTE, Chad!

Waaaahhhhh...

It takes me 25 minutes to get to either Plymouth OR New Bedford. It also takes 25 minutes to get to Hyannis as well, but I likely won't go there.

I like KPYM because it is my home port and the people there are really cool.

Plymouth is the largest town in the Commonwealth of MA and it takes a long time to get from one part to the next.

I just wish the airport was closer.

My house is about 1/2 mile south of KSMO. I don't have a hangar there yet, and will probably come up on the waiting list right around the time the sun goes dark, but that's my home port.

My drive is a bit farther than yours Chad, but over half mine is not on city streets, so it doesn't take all that long, about 10 miles and 22 minutes.

35 miles to where I am flying out of now. Takes about 35 minutes to get there. Once the RV is done it will be based elsewhere more than likely. Either IOW which is 30 miles and 35 minutes, or CID which is 45 miles and 45 minutes. Unless we decide ot move to our farm in southern Iowa and then I would probably go to K4K6 which would be about 20 miles and 20 minutes.

1.6 miles according to google maps. It takes about 12 mins to WALK, 3 mins to drive.

This is not by accident, part of the reason I bought my house was due to the proximity to the airport.

The hangar I build in opens up to a drop zone w/ Long's Peak in the background, absolutly beautiful.

Bill, I have cold beer in the hangar brother, you gotta make the drive one of these days, bring the fam, I have rootbeer for the little guys.

Happy Turkey day to all, I will be getting people to and fro safely tomorrow,

8 miles, 12 minutes to drive to the airport I work from (then it is a 20 minute walk from parking to the terminal).

10 miles, 12 minutes to drive to the airport where the RV will be based. Unfortunately I have not moved into that hangar yet. They have been telling me I can move into my new hangar in "just a few days" for three months now. It is 45 miles and 50 minutes to drive to the hangar I am assembling the fuselage in!

50 feet.

I purchased a piece of farmland and put a 2300x75 grass strip on it. The good part is how quickly I can get to the hangar, the bad part is that there is no one to share it with and it is a lot of work to keep up. I do like applying the hangar rent costs to the mortgage.

5.5 inches, the width of the door's threshold between the hall of the house and the wall of the hangar its wrapped around. I live with my plane at the airport. At least I will in another month. Its about half insulated, and the sheetrock starts next week. I stopped building the airplane last spring, and started on the house and hangar. I consider myself lucky to see a 30 year dream come to be. Can't wait to start on the plane again......Larry

When I *was* flying (grounded now), I'd drive about 45 minutes. I used to rent from downtown St. Paul which is just at the bottom of the bluffs along the Mississippi, about 8 miles away. But their equipment was old and the kids (CFIs) started treated renters like an imposition, and there was a much more professional operation at Flying Cloud. It was a pain in the neck, but there was something nice about walking in the door and have people say "good morning, Mr. Collins," and actuall seem to appreicate the fact I was giving them a ridiculous amount of money per hour.

In my next life I live at an airpark or I have a farm with a turf runway.

South just about 25 minutes, all highway to CID (class C) I couldgo the other way to VTI (uncontrolled) but the time is the same (I checked). There are lots of RVs at CID.

Damn Andy, don't make me move to Kelly Airpark. http://www.airnav.com/airport/CO15
Might do it if I get a job in Denver. Dec 31st is my last official last day unless my contract gets renewed. One of the joys of being a government contractor. :bang:
