Hello

Post by duncan_e »

I just thought I'd introduce myself. I've been browsing around this site and others for a little while doing some reading up now I've booked a flight out to visit Vans for December so I thought I better register on here.

Having built a house and a car in the past, it seemed only right to me that I should now consider the utter insanity that constitutes building a plane. But I've got a nice big, warm, dry workshop at the office, so then again why not.

Plus, of course, this site needs some more Brit viewpoints!

Welcome, Dunk!

It sounds like you have come to the right place. You seem like a tinkerer and a builder so you are among friends here!

Just jump in with both feet. The water is fine!

You don't need to go drink the Kool-Aid first!

Hi Duncan,

Welcome to the world of drilled fingers and empty wallets.

Now for the important question. What kind of dog do you have?

Do three siamese cats (OK so they are Liz's cats not mine) count as equal to at least one dog? Damn, thought not.

Yeah they do. Cats are smarter, and they weigh less.

I've always loved Canada. Such a beautiful country and such great people (not least because you can spell).

Remember its called English because it belongs to us English. Its on loan to you guys in America, and if you continue to mangle it beyond recognition we might just ask for it back.

More from Duncan's guide to winning friends and influencing people shortly.

Ummm, It is WE English.

But WE Americans will let you continue to use it, if you use it properly!

Otherwise we will have to come over THERE and have another tea party!

Says WHO?

If they were bigger, they would EAT YOU!

The only reason they don't is because they know that they wouldn't get away with it!

Sorry, CJ. Better be sure of your syntax before you try to zing him. Duncan is correct. There are many examples where we differ on spelling and syntax with the Brits and Canadians, but it's properly "to us English" on both sides of the pond and border.

Ok... checking on it now!

We three kings...

We, the people...

We Americans...

We Brits...

I think I am correct.

Lemme look into it.
