What a great weekend!!

Post by cjensen »

This weekend was such a good one for me, that I had to share!

Yesterday (Saturday) morning, my dad and I went to our weekly Chapter breakfast. He hadn't gone with me for a long time, and we had a great time. The plan was to go to the Peoria airshow (Blue Angels were there), but the weather looked like low ceilings and rain. We scrubbed that idea, but would keep an eye on it to see if it cleared up.

After breakfast, I went over to my friend Jim's house to work on the spars on his Sonex for a couple of hours. I really enjoy working on the Sonex, and it's nice to know I'll have a project to work on after my RV is done...he's on the S-L-O-W build program, and I'll be able to help him finish it when I'm done with mine.

At noon, I came home for lunch with Brit before she left to go dog training. When I pulled in the driveway, my dad called to see if we thought the weather would be decent enough to go to the show. It didn't look all that promising that we would see a high show from the Blues, so we decided to take the afternoon and get our first round of 18 holes in. Turned out to be a sweet afternoon for golf! We suck at it, but had a blast!

The evening was spent with Brit watching a movie...Wild Hogs. That was hysterical!

Today (Sunday) is our anniversary. 6 years we've been hitched! I started out the morning with breakfast at the airport resaurant with some friends while Brit had a training session. After breakfast, I put in almost four hours on my project, then mowed the yard for the first time. The first time is always neat because I miss that fresh cut grass smell. Later in the season, I start to hate mowing, but that's not what I'm talking about here.

After I mowed, Brit got home, and we've been relaxing at home all afternoon. We're now getting ready to go out for dinner at a nice restaurant that we haven't been to yet.

The weather has been just about perfect with temps at 70 degrees.

Beautiful weather, and a great anniversary weekend!!

Chad & Brit -

EXCELLENT & Congratulations!!!
I once read on a post that "sometimes the best thing you can do is ... not to build".
Sounds like this may that time for you

Enjoy!

Great movie, and I love motorcycles, but renting one would cost more than my entire trip to OSH!! Seriously though, Brad is flying to Bloomington this year again, and we'll be driving up in the SUV.

BTW...dinner at the new place, J. Bucks, was FANTASTIC!!

Jack Buck's (long time Cardinal broadcaster-not with us any longer) restaurant originally. Started in St. Louis, now it's called J.Bucks as a chain.

Congratulations on the anniversary!

Sounds like you had a great weekend. I'm just glad warm weather is finally getting here.

I was through Normal last Saturday, it was raining, and thought about calling but we were running a little later than we wanted to be. Looks like we will be going through there again in a couple of weeks on our way to the daughter graduation in Alabama. Might give you a call and see if you are around if we have time to stop and look at you bird now that it is on its feet. ;-)

Congrats! Sounds like it was a good one!

Mowed the lawn? In April? I didn't think you guys thawed out until just before OSH.

Congrats dude.

Wild Hogs, that was a fairly funny flick.

Chad & Brit,
Congratulations! Just think of the alternative places you'll have for anniversary dinner when the RV is done!
Yes, 120 miles south of you, mowing season got here a week earlier.

Congrats Chad! Make sure your project doesn't stop that getting to 10 years and more, somehow I get the feeling you have your priorities in the right order though  .

Better believe it! The project pretty much means nothing if I didn't have Brit with me!

Thanks!

Ahhhh, I see now... she's the one with the money! Smart man! :P

Yup, leave it to me to take something sincere and touching and use it against you. Guilty! :)
