Lest they be forgotten

Post by svanarts »

This was posted over on another forum I belong to by a man that lives in England:
Last friday over here was the 65th anniversary of the Dambuster raid over th German dams. There was the flypast of the last remaining flying Avro Lancaster over the Derwent and Ladybower dams not 10 miles from where i live in Sheffield. The Lancasters practised over these dams prior to thier bombing of the German dams.
This got me to thinking about a a B17 bomber that crashed into a park in Feb '44 in Sheffield not 2 miles from my home. Ten brave Americans lost their lives that day, thousands of miles from their families and homes and i just thought you guys might want to read about these heros who gave so much for all of us. I for one dont want these guys to be forgotten.

If it weren't for guys like this we might not be around to enjoy our flying freedom.
I hope you take a few moments this weekend to remember men like these. Let's never forget them.

I did some reading after watching the video last weekend. AMAZING stories, and you are right Scott...they shall never be forgotten.
