In Russia you can buy a professionally built RV!!! Could this happen in
the USA? - certainly not in England
CETUS is a Russian firm building the Van's models but with their own
model # ie: CETUS 200 (RV12), CETUS 700 (RV-7), etc.
Have a look at:
www.cetus.aero
Click on the Union Jack to read pages in English.

Wow, John!
I had never seen that!
There is no way that could ever exist in the US. I think that I am ok with that, though.
I have seen that RV-7 on their homepage somewhere before. It looks remarkable!

Ya know, there is something to be said for that. I wonder ...

I visited
Robin Coss Aviation in Cape Town, South Africa a couple of years back. Pretty impressive operation...they import kits and finish them, or help builders finish their projects. They have a commercial-grade paint booth on site, and resell Lycoming engines.
South Africa doesn't have any GA airframe manufacturing to speak of, so nobody complains too much about commercial kit completion. Also, aviation is a helluva lot less regulated there...

In some ways it is. But every time I return from a visit there, I'm really grateful for everything we have here at home.

Sometimes I think I would love to visit. There seem to be some really beautiful places in the world. I bet it neat to buzz around in an RV in such wide open spaces.

We went on safari in the
Kruger National Park three years ago with our South African friends - best trip we've ever made.

John
Maybe a few of the russians would like a holiday in England......I'm sure your inspector wouldn't notice the accent, you being in the south-west!

Since the RV-12 is an LSA, it can be professionally built in the U.S. My BIL is looking into getting certified by Van's as an RV-12 builder.
