I saw that Anti-Splat has a new oil sump heater and I decided to take an hour this morning to look at the stresses on the oil sump case when temperatures had reached a steady-state condition. sometimes, transient thermal conditions can have higher stresses (as it begins to heat) but, in this case, probably not by much. the max thermal stress for the steady-state condition is approx. 7 ksi, that is within the capability of the sump alum material.
Good song for mountain bike trail riding (but I can only carry a folding bike, but it's good enough!) ...... splitting the trees! the next run is on my schedule. temps predicted to be 5C, that is perfect.
