I've successfully used this method several times. It involves a sump heater extension plug that routes through the bottom cowl vent. By doing this, you can close the oil fill door and plug the cowl inlet to retain the heat. Bring an extra-long extension cord with a lighted plug and inform the FBO to connect it the night before. This technique has worked very well for me at -15°C.
