Just a note to express my very large concern over the NPRM for codifying the ADIZ. If you have not taken the time to read the Docket I suggest, and in actuality implore you to do so. I have gotten about 1/3rd of the way through this and its absolutely ridiculous how the document uses 9/11 and subsequent "arrests" to justify this NPRM. One such sited occurrence was because of a "plot" to use a "explosive-laden aircraft" in PAKISTAN. That is to say we are restricting airspace here in the US in part by "plotted" and not actual activities in Pakistani airspace. Frankly I find that infuriating. As of today there are a bit over 200 comments, please consider sending one in yourself and cc'ing your elected officials. The comment period is over 11/2/05.

I fear that many pilots across the country will lay low in this issue as it only concerns us Mid-Atlantic pilots. However, I believe that is a sadly mistaken opinion as can easily be seen by the actions of Mayor Daley of Chicago and the temporary restrictions that he had imposed simply because he asked for them. If we allow it to start here it will end up in armed check points for ground entry into our cities. Please take a few minutes to read the docket and know exactly what our government is doing to "protect" us.

Here is the link to the docket.

And here is a link to submit comments:

I just now submitted a post to the FAA site and it was accepted. We need to get the non knowledged DCer's educated about general aviation.

Ok that's done. I looked at the rule and one plot in Karachi Pakistan and the fact that some of the hijackers trained in small aircraft (where else do you learn to fly) is their justification. Most of the data they use appears to be from 2002 and 2003. The terrorists use truck bombs most every day in Iraq. Are we going to start restricting truck movements because of that? We give up our freedoms because of what might happen, the terrorists have already won.

I can't help but wonder how little they will listen to us.
