Favorite sport: Extra 300 or Edge 540
Favorite cruiser: Piper Meridien
Favorite jet: F-14 Tomcat. Sad to see it retired.
Favorite warbird: Tough one, tie between FW-190, ME-109 and Spitfire
Dream machine: Something that will take me into space. I'm watching Branson closely!

Soooo, I googled up some info on the DC-3.

http://www.dc3history.org/operating_costs.htm

It seems that it would be cost effective for one to sell most everything they owned and tour the world, like some people do with recreational vehilces.

What a cool thing to do when you get old!

Hmmmm .... "cost effective" ??? :?

OK, that is a relative term. More cost effective than a million dollar motorhome or a Lear 45.

Certainly you could save money travelling in a Toyota Camry, but it will never fly.

Ya know...

My Dad's 64 years old. He decided to take up aviation "late". He never had a desire to fly a fixed wing. So he went out and bought a Baby Blue Bell 47. (I think he watched too much M*A*S*H )

He soloed a couple of months ago. Has about 70+ hours in it now. Just passed his written this week and is working on his cross-country.

How's that for retirement? He likes flying "50ft. off the deck" all the time and it drives his instructor crazy.

Yes, I suppose I can say that I'm involved with the F-22A (it's new name).
I'm a Manfacturing Engineer in Final Asembly for F-22. But I'm still partial to the other's I've worked on - C-5, C-141 and C-130J as well!

Aside from a number of warbirds I drool over (P-51, Spitfire, Corsair) ...in the category of obtainable aircraft, I LOVE Cessna 195's. Especially the polished aluminum ones with sharp trim schemes. They're such classy old birds.

Now you are talking! A C-195... what a classic, traditional plane!

I wonder if we will one day say, "Remember how the Cirrus changed the aviation community? What a great plane that was!"

Naw...
