Yes, you're all probably right, (I think I worry too much)
I like the tip up, I'm going with it.

slider vs tip up
Roll bar?
CJ, et al:
I posed the question of the slider "roll bar" to Van's. Maybe this is already known, but I didn't know it. This is my query and their response:
Hello,
I'm a long way from decision time on the slider vs. tip-up canopy
question on my RV-7A, but I hope you can answer a question that
circulates in the online builder's forum I frequent: Is the top of the
windscreen in the slider version really a roll bar? Information on any
testing you've done, or actual accident information, would be helpful.
Thank you,
Jon
Jon: The windshield of the slider is held up by a very robust steel
tube that acts as a roll bar. It works, too, as a couple of
unfortunate pilots have found.

I have flown both and have chosen the Slider. The tip up gives a clear forward view. However when you compare the forward view of a slider to a Cessna 172; 150; PA 17; or a Champ it wins hands down. I have not modified the canopy to tilt up in the back but I can do that after I have flown it for a while. The slider is real pain to build and I have to think the tip up would be simpler. Howerver, I have never been involved in building a tip up and don't have facts to base this on. The bottom line is each person has to decide for themself and be happy with the decision when it is flying.
