My US tour this summer

Post by captain_john »

Hey guys,

I am planning my summer tour now. I plan on going to Oshkosh and then heading west from there. The Vans Homecoming is on my list as well.

I will gladly trade RV rides for accomodations!

Even if you have an RV and don't need a ride, I would still like to stay at your house!

I plan on making my route based upon where I can stay.

Also, let me know if you come to my area and I will put you up at my house!

Who lives along the way and has an extra room?

Any takers?

CJ, let me know if you get down to San Diego/Ramona. I've got room.
I haven't made up my mind on Oshkosh, but I'm hoping the stars align (work/family/money/etc).

I've got a room if you need it CJ. More than welcome to stay. Possibly a hanger.

CJ I am jealous. I am stuck in a boot camp for 19 more months or until wash out whichever happens first. I will gladly pass my x-ross country connections and contacts to you if you wish. That would be one mighty memorable voyage.

Gonna be a bit busy pre OSH, but you are welcome to stay in NE Wisconsin on the way back if needed.

I knew that I could count on you guys!

I am planning things out now.

Looks like OSH will be the first stopover. After that, It just might depend on accommodations and where the wind blows. I want to see Napa wine country, Oregon, Southern Cali and Arizona. Shooting home via the southern half of the US is a fun idea.

Do you have any favorite stops that I should know about?

Let me know if you do!

Come to my house!

Post by BSwayze »

CJ, If you are coming to homecoming, I'm just a hop and a skip from there, especially in an RV! I live in SE Portland, just 25 min. from Vans, and a visit to the mother ship would be in order, especially if you've never been there before. We have extra rooms here and would welcome a visit! There's so much to see and do here, I could nearly post a whole book. Mikey has been to my home, and so has Bruce Hill. Rivetbangers are the greatest!

I wish I could offer you a hangar, but there are several nice airports nearby and we can talk about any one of them. I can ferry you back and forth. Hope you can make it! :)

GREAT! :)

I just checked on Vans site, it looks like Homecoming this year is August 14-16. The folks who live there at Independence are wonderful hosts, just go to Vans and click on the link and register. You're welcome to come here beforehand, or afterward, whatever suits your schedule. We'll definitely have some fun!

CJ, We have a room for you in Appleton Wi on your way west or back home. It’s about a 30 min ride to Oshkosh and have a vehicle for you to use. Have a great adventure and let me know if I can help.

Bruce, Chad and Steve, that all sounds great! See you all soon!

By the way, I cannot believe how great this plane is. in the last 24 hours I flew 10.3 hours!

I went down to North Carolina, met a friend and then went to KTGI Tangier Island for soft shell crabs and then came home.

Image

The food there is DELICIOUS, the company was GREAT and the plane is INCREDIBLE! Probably the most fun I have had in a long time!

I cruised effortlessly at about 12,000' each way with the autopilot on and felt completely rested when I arrived at home! No Vlad, I didn't NOT sleep while flying the plane! lol

On the contrary, Vlad smelled delightful...at least enough for me to prove the Russian escaped from TRAINing for a few hours.

Thanks Vlad!

She is an incredible flying machine!

I am not sure what happened to that news story. I will ask Steve about it when I see him next.

Let's plan another trip to the Bungalow! We can visit him together!

That is an open invitation to all here. Do we have any takers for late June?

Mikey, are you able?

It wouldn't be the same without you there!

Maybe fourth of July weekend??? I will try to drag my boat up there, if not, we could always rent one.

A trip to the Bungalow would be fun! I can't make it the weekend of the 4th, but the weekend before and after the 4th are free for me.

Looking forward to more fun times in Rangeley!

Who else is in?

Plan 8B0!

Vlad, can you break away?

Anyone else?

OK guys!

I will take you all up on your offers! Here is the loose plan:

Joe Parish, I LOVE SD! If I could see you on my way to Homecoming and give you some RV rides in exchange for accommodations.

Bruce Swayze, yes... I DO plan on doing Homecoming! Count me in!

Bruce Hill, Cool! I want to see Catalina Island as well! Maybe we could meet up with Top Gun (Dan Thompson AKA Omega Devils on VAF) while I am in the area? He flies an RV-6A and an "F" plane for the Gumment. Great guy!

Perhaps imposing on Steve Wiz and the Doc in Wisconsin on the return trip home, if I could!?!

What do all you guys think?

We can use this thread to post pictures of all the impending good times!

Uh oh! Smells like trouble! Mikey, maybe that is what you smelled on Vlad... TROUBLE! lol
