Last ice landing of the year-Winter concert in Maine

Post by captain_john »

Hey All, This might be the last chance to do an ice landing this season. Saturday, March 11, 2017 the Bald Mountain Camp in Rangeley, Maine is planning their Winter Concert.

The music starts at 4PM. I plan on arriving about 3:30 and staying for a couple of hours.

Seeing as we missed our gracious host, Steve Philbrick during his winter Fly-In earlier this year I thought that maybe we could attend his concert on the ice.

He will have a tent set up with food or you could go inside where it is warm if you prefer. It is supposed to be well below freezing, so bundle up!

Current ice condition is glare. He says that it is a skating rink right now and based upon his words, I am leaving my wheel pants on... if that affects your decision. The forecast shows possible snow in Rangeley on Friday and that usually translates to light, powdery and blowing snow on the glare ice. Worst case scenario you might have to plow through a drift.

I expect that we will hang around until dusk or so and then head back home. I have room here in Plymouth for those that wish to spend the night.

There is cheap fuel in Bethel, Maine. I will be stopping there on the way up. The identifier is 0B1 and last I checked it is $3.99.

Anyone interested?

If anyone is interested, we will be attempting another release with the "device" over the frozen lake.

Wade, I would love to pick you up but it is a bit out of the way and Desiree will be with me anyways. If Russki is inclined to do so, I have room at the house for you too on Saturday night.

BTW ALL... Listen up! Speedpants is monitoring the Face Space page of Bald Mountain Camp and he spotted a change in the time. Due to the extreme cold temperatures, Steve is moving the venue to 6PM and moving it inside the lodge. I say that we keep our times the same and just stop in to say hello.

My plans are not changing. No overnight in Rangeley. All are welcome back here in Plymouth to spend the night.

Give me a heads up if you are interested in spending the night.

CJ-

I will have to settle on only one ice-landing this year. Enjoy Rangeley tomorrow!
