I’m not sure if this aircraft was still fitted with a Subaru engine. It has crashed before due to engine issues.
A Van's RV-8A crashed under unknown circumstances into some bushland, shortly after takeoff from runway 28 at Heck Field Airport (YHEC), Norwell, Queensland. Both occupants perished and the aircraft was destroyed by fire.
